Description
Iron and gold in one object is unusual and difficult: the collars are made as gold sleeves and slid over the iron rather than soldered to it.
Granulation runs in three bands behind each head — individual gold grains fused without solder, a technique that leaves no seam to find.
Antiquities, sold as the pair. The iron is dry and stabilised; it should not be worn in water.
