Description
The centre stone is broad and shallow, cut in facets that run to a point at the top. It fills the hand — nearly 15 mm across — while sitting barely 6 mm high.
Around it, and continuing down both shoulders, dozens of small rose cuts are set into a silver bed. The bed is what gives the whole head its grey cast.
The shank is gold and shows plainly at the back of the photograph. Silver above, gold below: the eighteenth-century way of building a large diamond ring.
