Description
Carved from a single slab of nephrite, worked on the front face only — the reverse is left plain and slightly dished, which is normal for a plaque meant to be sewn or hung against cloth.
The colour is not uniform: cream through to butter yellow, with russet staining in the crevices from long burial. We have not cleaned it out.
An antiquity, sold as such, with a modern cord and no metalwork added. Any mounting would need to be reversible, and we would rather leave that decision to the buyer.
