Description
Every pearl is knotted individually, so a broken thread costs one bead and not the whole necklace. The knots also stop the pearls grinding against one another where the strands cross.
The strands are different lengths and meant to be worn together, doubled, or one at a time — the shortest sits at the collarbone, the longest at the sternum.
The case in the photograph is the box they arrive in: a small domed wooden chest with a metal hasp. It is not a display piece, but it will keep the strands off a dressing table for years.
