Description
Palmettes in peacock blue and green fan out from the centre of the case, each one filled into a cell chased into the gold. Copper-pink and yellow enamel picks out the calyx below them.
The gold between the cells is left matte, which is what stops the whole face going glassy under a lamp — the enamel shines, the ground does not.
White enamel runs round the rim in short strokes, and the same white reappears as tiny dashes between the palmettes. Sold as a locket; it opens on a concealed hinge under the lower finial.
