Description
The wings are painted in enamel over gold and fired: black grounds, chalk-blue eyespots ringed in red, and a dotted border of tiny ruby, emerald and seed-pearl cabochons following the outline.
It hangs from its shoulders rather than from a central bail, so the body stays horizontal and the piece lies open across the chest instead of tipping forward.
An antiquity from our archive, offered as found. The enamel has one small loss on the upper left wing, which we have left alone — refiring would take the surrounding colour with it.

Exactly as described. It sits slightly higher on the collarbone than I expected — worth measuring first.

Bought for an anniversary. The finish is far better than anything I was shown in the chain shops at twice the price.

Worn daily for a year and it still looks like the day it arrived. The resize was done in three days and cost nothing, exactly as promised.

They talked me out of a more expensive piece because it was wrong for my hand. I have bought twice more since.

The photographs are honest — it is the same colour of gold in daylight as it is on the page, which I did not expect.
