Description
The stone turns on its axis, so the intaglio face can be worn inward against the finger or outward as an ornament. It was cut to be pressed into wax, and it still takes an impression.
Coiling the hoop from one drawn wire rather than casting it gives a band that flexes a little under the knuckle instead of resisting it.
An antiquity, offered as such. The carnelian carries the wear you would expect and we have not repolished it.
