Description
Above and below the stone, tiny gold spheres are heaped into two triangular clusters — granulation, fused rather than soldered, each grain placed by hand.
The carnelian is a warm orange shading to pale at one edge, and it is cut with a seated figure holding a long staff. The engraving is shallow and reads best at an angle.
Photographed against black with the light coming from the front, which is why the bezel rim looks brighter than the granules. Both are the same gold.
